I was in San Diego with my wife returning from visiting our oldest daughter. We got to the airport check-in counter at 0600 and they told us there had been an aircraft accident in NYC. They took our bags but when we went upstairs we saw the terrible news on TV.
We could not fly back to Massachusetts until three days later, but Southwest was great keeping us informed and getting us out.
At the end of the week I saw the news coverage of MA-TF1 returning from your deployment. I felt proud of your response and that I had been fortunate to have been a liaison to the team previously as an Air Force Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer.
Thank you and the team for your extraordinary dedication and service you have given and continue to provide to FEMA and United States of America.
